The Volkswagen Type 1 is one of the world's most recognized, popular economy vehicles. Although the German made car debuted in 1938, it wasn't until 1967 that marketing materials reflected its common nickname, the Beetle. This same year the drive train received notable upgrades, while the popular round, bubbly, insect like design remained in many ways the same. 1971 marked the year when the Super Beetle hit roads, and production of this vehicle continued through 1979, offering a version of the car with improved suspension, better brakes and increased passenger space.

Though the Beetle was successful during the 1960s, sales later declined due to Japanese automakers rear wheel drive technologies. Still, during the 70s the Beetle was the most popular car on the road, and in the 80s it was named car of the century. The VW Beetle remains a symbol of the free spirited, hippy generation during which its popularity peaked, and so its nickname Love Bug stuck and owners continue to maintain, restore and collect this little car.

With over 20 million Beetles made, it's no wonder that VW parts and vehicles are easy to come by. Volkswagens reputation as being the peoples car translates to an easy to operate, easy to work on machine, facts all attributing to the plentiful stock of Volkswagen restoration parts in circulation. Today, there are a multitude of websites and retail shops that offer new and used VW parts, keeping this fun and cute, yet discontinued car on the highway.

It should be considered that VW parts are model specific. For instance, the original Beetle features a rear-engine with rear wheel drive. The reintroduced, redesigned Beetle that launched in 1997 features a front of car engine and front wheel design. Volkswagen parts manufactured for the Beetle by the maker include front wheel drive, dual airbags and anti-lock brakes. No matter what part you are trying to find and replace, or upgrade, Volkswagen parts are known for their long-lasting qualities from parking lights to fenders and condensers. Finding and installing Volkswagen restoration parts will only add to the timeless value of your car.

Volkswagen parts are as affordable as they are simple to find. With the ease of electronic shopping, just as a consumer might compare prices of shoes, mechanics and common drivers alike are able to shop around for Volkswagen parts and make purchases at competitive rates. Though fixing and maintaining vehicles may not be every car owners favorite past time, the ability to obtain Volkswagen restoration parts with ease allows more time to be spent on the open road, driving a functional and affordable classic vehicle.
