Los Angeles restaurants and their menus, even online menus, reflect the diverse nature of the town and its residents. From German born culinary superstars Wolfgang Puck and his restaurants including Spago, to the acclaimed and world renown Pinks, known for its vast selection of hot dogs, this town has it all. Perhaps one of the most successful and known celebrity chefs and restaurateurs, Wolfgang Puck, owns several restaurants in and around the Los Angeles area. His Los Angeles restaurant opened after he wrote his first book in 1981.
The menus at Spago reflect Pucks knowledge of modern French cuisine, and online menus on his websites can be seen for those curious culinary enthusiasts and fans around the world. This successful first restaurant gave way to Wolfgang Puck Companies, Wolfgang Puck Dining Group and Wolfgang Puck Worldwide, which now consists of 15 fine dining restaurants, more than 80 Wolfgang Puck Express Operations, kitchen goods and food merchandise and catering services that might most be noted among the rich and famous.
Pucks career has branched beyond his culinary expertise as he has truly become a celebrity and pop culture icon within the food and restaurant world. Beyond his Los Angeles Restaurants, Puck has made cameos in films and taken part several times in Food Television programming, guest appearances and segments. It could be that Pucks celebrity is due to the fact that he was one of the original restaurant owners to put Hollywood and Los Angeles on the culinary map creating menus, including online menus available to anyone with access to the internet. Now Puck is not only a celebrity in his own right for the Los Angeles restaurants movement, but year after year he is caterer to the stars in Hollywood related awards shows like the Academy Awards Governors Ball.
At one time Wolfgang Puck was widely criticized for his use of fois gras and veal in his restaurants. As the organic and freerange movements have surfaced in support of the humane treatment of animals before they wind up on menus and in restaurants and online menus, Puck in 2007 released a statement that his restaurants and vast empire would feature menus created with only these humanely treated animals.
