There are plenty of these kinds of suggestions as well, and no matter how crazy they are or even if they're based on some old wives tale, we may all find ourselves believing and considering them from time to time. However, there definitely are some real ways for men to use tips and advice in their daily life in order to live longer.
Stay Home If You're Sick: No matter how "macho" or "manly" you'd like everyone to think you are, the best thing that you could ever do when feeling just even a little bit under the weather or sick is to stay home from work. Even if the boss dislikes it when you stay home there are real benefits to doing so as opposed to going into work sick.
Researchers in the United Kingdom conducted a study where they found that men that they studied had double the risk of a heart attack if they went into work sick than if they stayed home. If that's not incentive to get some rest while you're sick then I'm not sure what is.
More Decreased Heart Attack Risk: Yet another thing that men can do in order to decrease their chances of a heart attack and experience a longer life is to drink more water. Even though this may seem obvious, and it is something that we've all been told since we were kids, there are actually researchers who back up the claim. A study at Loma Linda University conducted a study where they found that men who drank at least five glasses of water per day were more than 50% less likely to suffer from a heart attack!
Say Yes to Chocolate: Of course there have been many controversial and contradicting studies over the years that have swayed the general public in a direction on where to land on this issue. However, Dutch researchers actually found in one of their 15-year research study that men who consumed the amount of two Hershey's Kisses each day were much less likely to die from some kind of heart disease. That chance was actually sliced right in half!
Exercise: The age-old advice of exercising still has not gone away. Contrary to what you or any fad diet on the market may think, it is very hard to near impossible to lose weight like you'd want to unless you place exercise back into your life. Recently, that statement was backed up by Duke University. Researchers there found that men who burned just over 1,000 calories each week were more likely to live longer since dangerous types of fat can be gotten rid of through that amount of exercise.
Of course, there are plenty of other pieces of advice and tips that one can take into consideration if trying to achieve a longer life altogether. For example, having a proper diet, avoiding a sedentary lifestyle, and making sure that one is generally happy throughout your life are also sure-fire ways to live longer. All in all, there are definitely many things one can do to decrease heart attack risks, live longer, and be happier and healthier as well!
