The basics for a long life are exercising regularly and eating healthy. However, there are other conditions that must be met. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention it is estimated that seventy-four percent of the population is not eating the proper five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables each day.
The body needs specific groups of nutrients to stay healthy; therefore it is necessary to eat balanced meals each day. Choose a variety of foods. No group gives the body all the nutrients that are needed. Even though an individual thinks that he is eating healthy, a multivitamin should be taken to help reduce the risk of diseases.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle will promote a high quality of life and give the body essential nutrients and increase energy levels naturally. One would benefit by enhance health and the immune system.
A good quality multivitamin will help maintain eye health, promote bone health, help maintain the immune system, help convert food to energy, and help to promote the health of the cardiovascular system. A multivitamin helps the body to get the proper nutrients; although it cannot take the place of a balanced meal.
Never take individual vitamins without guidance even though vitamins can sometimes address specific medical conditions. Generally, more than the recommend daily allowance is required. This is all the more reason to have a health care provider to assist with your regimen.
There are crucial nutrients in every food group that will enhance your health. Many studies suggest fruits, vegetables, whole grains; legumes and fish oils help to protect the body against heart disease and cancer.
Plant foods give the combination of vitamins, minerals and complex carbohydrates. They contain antioxidants and they are low in calories and high in fiber. Daily calories should be balanced with physical exercise or other activity.
Be sure to burn as many calories as are taken in to prevent weight gain. Even though an individual is not trying to loose or gain weight, their diet should remain balanced (55-60% carbohydrates, 10-15% protein, and 25-30% fat).
When it is possible buy fresh grown organic unprocessed foods; which are better for the body. When possible choose plant foods over supplements. Researchers show diets that are rich in fruits and vegetables, grains and nuts keeps the body cells healthy.
