The Law of Attraction: Feedback Is Priceless!

Almost everybody has heard of the law of attraction at this point (not much of a 'secret' anymore). A quick look around, though, reveals that the planet isn't quite 'utopia', yet. Clearly there is something missing from the standard formula. Typically, gratitude and visualization are the primary techniques taught as the law of attraction. Understanding the concept of feedback is an important addition to this.
When you are using the law of attraction to draw what you desire into your life, it is important to pay attention to the changes in yourself, others, and your environment. I refer to these factors as 'feedback'.

Allow me to offer an example. Years ago I was in the Army. One of the many tasks at which you have to be proficient as an infantryman in the Army is land navigation.

Land navigation, or land nav, is basically being able to find your way around with a map and a compass. Land nav, just like life in general, can be fun, but it can also be tedious if you aren't paying attention. You have to use the compass to find direction; it is always important to know where you are going, and where that is in relation to where you are now. This is typically referred to as 'shooting an azimuth' in land nav. Once you find your direction, you look for a landmark along your azimuth, and then walk towards it. When it's this simple, land nav works just like the law of attraction should; you see your goal and you move towards it. Unfortunately, it's rarely that simple. In land nav, you don't always have a clear landmark along your azimuth, you sometimes have a large terrain feature (ponds, hills, ditches, trees, etc.) in your way, and sometimes it's just so dark you can't see where you're going even though you know the direction. So it is with the rest of life.

In your life there are likely to be many challenges on the way to your goals. Both your environment and your own unresolved issues from the past can stand in your way.

If you look at how much your parents make, and how much your closest friends make, you've got a pretty good idea of what the current cap on your own income is. There are exceptions to this rule (like all rules), but if you like playing these odds you might as well stick with lottery tickets. It might be useful to meet and socialize with people who are making significantly more money than you are, preferably in a field or business that you are interested in. On the other hand, if you are currently a software programmer, and you want to be a Cello instructor, there is probably a lot of work ahead of you; you will have to significantly change your environment.

Your own self limiting beliefs can your worst enemy on your path to success. If deep inside, you don't think you can succeed, then you won't. If you believe that wealthy people are constantly stressed out by managing money, then you won't be able to manage large amounts of money without being stressed out. It is good to frequently sit down and examine your beliefs surrounding goals in general, and your own goals specifically. Are they serving you? What changes could you make so they would work even better?

When you pay attention to internal and environmental feedback, you can truly unleash the power of the law of attraction in your life!
