However, wealthy people began to visit Costa del Sol for its natural beauty, as well as its mild and stable climate. In the 1960s, Malaga was made more accessible to other European cities, by the opening of an airport. This only served to increase the tourism to the area.

Its hotel capacity can hold 70,000 guests and there are approximately 300 hotels in the area. Primarily, visitors to the area will have to decide if they are looking for a beach holiday or to be based in the center of the vibrant city. Both options are available when considering Costa del Sol.

Besides for hotels, tourists to the area can choose to stay in a rural getaway in the Andalusian countryside. This will allow for some relaxation and quiet-time. They can decide to stay in a spa resort which is a popular choice for those who are looking for a bit of pampering. Resort apartments are available all along the coastline and beachside apartments can be found in exclusive private developments. Staying in an apartment in Costa del Sol is an excellent choice for those who travel in a group or as a family. They allow for some more privacy, space and freedom than what you could expect if you were staying in a hotel.
