Many people who embark upon England tours do so to educate themselves about the rich heritage. Part of this history is the amazing Tudor period, a time defined by the struggles between religion and the opulence of the royal court. This period saw many country estates and castles being constructed that to the modern visitor are an ideal way to discover intimate details of the age. One of the most magnificent buildings of the Tudor age is Hampton Court, this one time royal residence played a key role in the history of England, from the comings and goings of Henry VIII to the religious debates held by James I (and VI of Scotland). While adults will be impressed by the sheer beauty of the place, kids will be amply entertained by the maze and fantastic gardens.
Another brilliant destination for all the family that should be included in tours of England is Longleat House. This magnificent stately home is worth visiting for its exemplary architecture and art collections alone although there is an added bonus. With an onsite animal wildlife park it is possible to take a car and tour the various enclosures and see animals such as tigers, lions, giraffes and rhinos. For the youngest children there is also a petting zoo with smaller animals for a far closer encounter.
A trip to England however does not purely have to focus upon historical aspects. The countryside is an essential inclusion in any trip. The rural areas of this magnificent country have inspired artists, writers and poets for centuries, maybe if your tours include these elements; you may leave this magical isle with a little inspiration of your own. While it is a small island it is amazing how much the scenery changes, even within a distance of fifty miles. The chance to go on tours of the excellent waterways should also not be missed.
Of these areas there are certain regions that should be included in tours. Such regions are the quaint Cotswolds, the marvellous Malvern Hills, the barren moors of Yorkshire and the unbelievable south coast. Touring these areas does not only supply the traveller with some of the most beautiful vistas anywhere on the planet, but also a unique opportunity to sample the local culture.
The coastline is certainly worth seeing, and as an island nation there is plenty of it to visit. Whether this is the famed white cliffs of Dover and the Kentish coast or the rugged coastline in the North of the country, battered by the raging sees, every turn along the shores of England is sure to amaze and enthral. Any trip should include a visit to the south west, this region is unique and the most temperate in the country, allowing for great beach holidays and activities such as surfing.
Hopefully this article has given idea of how beautiful and amazingly interesting England really is. The information here only scratches the surface of the range of attractions and activities on this spectacular island. With a little research it should be possible to find the perfect itinerary for any tour of this brilliant country.
