Would You Go For The SMS Break Up?

Would you ever break-up with someone by sending a text or email?
You are probably thinking what could be lower than an SMS break-up?

Well, sms is here to stay, so it's going to happen - the sms break up is a reality.

Ask yourself how you would feel if you got a message like this. Remember when that "beep-beep" goes off, the person you're sending to could be anywhere: in the bathroom, with their mother, eating dinner, laughing with friends. And you're about to drop a bombshell.

Is it cowardly to break up by sms? Well, only you can know the answer to that, but I'd make two points here. First, there are times when being a coward is okay. You really aren't required to be a hero all the time. If someone pointed a gun at me and I thought I had a chance of escaping, I'd run.

Secondly, it depends how well you do it. You don't have to be nasty. Make your point and go. And, since you've chosen the sms break up as your method of departure, don't call round later with a bottle of wine. If you're leaving the other person's life, leave!

Here's a couple of tips for the kinder form of SMS break up.

No doubt you're angry, you're hurting and at the very least you're disappointed. Of course no one gets into a relationship expecting or intending to end it.

But none of that gives you the right to be unkind. The other person still has to have a life after you're not in it, so be kind. Be gentle.

I've seen websites with some very cruel "don't bother me" type of messages for sms -ing your emotions.

Where did this idea come from that it's okay to express as cruelly and as crudely as possible whatever enters your head? Sometimes I think we're almost at the point where we'd march up to some stranger and say, "Hey, you're ugly aren't you?"

Relationships will end - and the sms break up can be acceptable, (just), if it's done with love. (If you can't get your head around that, try self respect as a starting point. The way you break someone's heart is likely to live in your memory for a long time).

Here are just a few suggestions for kind sms break up messages:

"Love hurts when U break up wid some one. Hurts even more when some one breaks up U. Sorry to be the 1 2 hurt u."

"Love will die if held too tightly. Time 2 let go."

"Love can be bad, it can treat you like dirt. I wont be proud of that, so I'm bowing out so you can stay clean."

"Love doesnt give up but sadly, I do. Sorry."

You can always add something like:

"I wish you nothing but peace and the best".

Wassup? They're wussy? They're wimpish? No, man, they're human, they're dignified and they respect another human being who was probably prepared to get naked - physically and from the soul - for you.
