New Age Spirituality – Morning Has Been All Night Coming ( Part 20 )

Gideon was very serious as he spoke. You would think that our conversation would have been on a lighter note since I hadn’t seen him in such a long time. He still hadn’t explained where he had been. His habit of answering a question with another question, and his ability to turn a statement into food for thought both fascinated and frustrated me at the same time.

“I see that you are your same old self, Gideon, still able to turn even the simplest situations into learning experiences. Don’t you think we’ve had quite enough dialogues about life and tests and should really be enjoying each other’s company again?”

“There’s so much to be done now,John. That’s why I’m here.”

“Really, Gideon, where were you all this time? And please don’t tell me about fulfilling assignments.”

His entire figure assumed a more serious posture and expression as he leaned forward. “I have always been watching you,John,” he whispered. “I’ve sat with you through your agonies and have cried tears with you through your sufferings. I was with you in that hospital room as much as I was with you when most of your friends and family turned away from you. I rejoiced with you when you were happy. Yes, John,even though you were unaware, I have been with you all this time.”

I was puzzled and annoyed. So, he was with me all this time and never lifted a finger to help? As if reading my thoughts again, he said, “Although I and others were with you, we were not permitted to interfere. We have rules, too, you know.”

I found myself becoming extremely agitated as I spoke. “Look, Gideon,you and others like Marla amuse yourselves flitting through time and space. You seem to have extraordinary abilities,like appearing and disappearing at will. With the flick of a little finger you can solve someone else’s problem, and yet,you have the nerve to sit

here and tell me that you were just watching me? Standing by while I went through my own personal hell? Well, I certainly hope that I put on an entertaining show for you, my friend.”
