New Age Spirituality – Morning Has Been All Night Coming ( Part 48 )

A few seconds later,or so it seemed,there was a slight bump and the sound of the motor returned to normal. I looked through the window, but still could see nothing. Finally we stopped. The driver got out and opened the door,and we slipped out of the car. We were greeted by a young man and a young woman who seemed to have been waiting for us.

“Good evening,” the young man said. “This way, please.” We followed the pair into a large, well-lit building, where we were shown to a table. The name card placed on it read, “Gideon and Company.”

“What’s this with a company, Gideon?” I asked. “Do you own your own company now?”

“No, John, I still work for G&M Enterprises, Inc. This card should have read ‘Gideon and Friends.’ You remember G&M from the old days, don’t you?”

G&M Enterprises was the company that Gideon and Marla worked for when I first met them. The letters stand for God and Man, man being used in the generic sense of the word. The Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board is God. Many of my earlier learning experiences with Gideon and Marla were staged through adventures with G&M Enterprises.

By this time, we were seated comfortably. Five chairs had been placed around the table. Since there were only three of us, I asked Gideon if we were expecting others to join us for dinner.

“One never knows for sure who will drop in,” he said. “I might have mentioned to you before,” he continued,“that we often meet old friends here. This is a favorite ‘space-time’ of ours. Marla and I visit very often. The food is excellent and the entertainment is divine.” As he said that, a curious smile touched the edges of his mouth.

I had been longing to speak at length with Marla and now was my opportunity. Before I began, Gideon added,

“If you don’t mind, John, I’ll do the ordering for us. I know exactly what you like.”
