The Characteristics of the Zodiac Sign of Capricorn

The tenth sign of the zodiac is Capricorn. Those born between the dates of December 23rd and January 20th have this as their sign. It is symbolized by the Goat due to the stubborn, somewhat isolated natures of the animal and the people associated with the sign. The Capricorn nature is persistent and goal oriented. They are ambitious and dedicated to success and they will achieve it, although it usually requires overcoming quite a bit of difficulties. Their patience and perseverance is unrivaled by any other sign in the zodiac. They pick their path carefully, with seriousness of purpose and much consideration. Conservativeness exists in all aspects of their life: work, home, speech, dress, relationships. Organizational skills and a love of structure suits this person well for an occupation in business or government. They take their work seriously and care about how they are perceived. They seek out power but not the lights of center stage. Confident, they can nonetheless stumble over the roadblocks of rigidity and a deep fear of change.

With all of this seriousness, it can be hard for the Goat to warm up to others. They can, and are a great friend when they do so, but it takes awhile. They tend to be loyal and very reliable. The hard demeanor they project hides their truly sensitive and shy nature. Intimacy is not an area that is familiar to them. And the unfamiliar leaves the Capricorn feeling uncomfortable. If you know a Capricorn, do not throw them a surprise party. They will be more startled than excited. Give them an organizer or date book instead.

In a romantic relationship, Capricorns remain somewhat of a loner even after they have been over by a partner patient enough to get through all of the walls. They keep a part of themselves hidden away for safe keeping at all times. They are romantic but don't know how- or won't allow them to- surrender to that side of their nature. They like stability and take promises seriously. Early marriage is rare under this sign and usually done because of some sort of childhood neglect. Most Goats take a long time to make a commitment. Their sexual sides are strong but they distrust that passion and may have problems expressing it in conjunction with emotions.

The Capricorn likes to be the dominant person in a relationship. If they are hurt, they hold on to a grudge. They may also have problems showing how they are feeling. Often they seek out a partner who has the ability to draw their passionate side out from all of those reservations. They are capable of being incredibly loyal, loving and devoted- they just don't really know how to go about it. A patient, engaging partner can often pull the Goat off the side of their isolated mountain so that they can roam around in the field with others.
