The Characteristics of the Zodiac Sign Taurus

The second sign in the zodiac is Taurus. Those born between the dates of April 21st and May 20th bear this sun sign. It is symbolized by the Bull due to the steadfast, slow and stubborn nature of the animal and the people that fall under this sign. Famous people that fall under this sign include the singer Bono (from the rock band U2), actor Al Pacino and actress Uma Thurman.

Taurus' are hard working, patient and deliberate. They do not adapt well to change or innovative ideas. They are incredibly stubborn and somewhat indecisive but practical. Predictability in their environment brings out the best in this type of person. They are unlikely to take chances or embark on grand adventures. Their love of the known is so strong that they may become as conservative as to dismiss anything that isn't tangible.

The Taurus individual is friendly and good natured with anger rarely showing. But if they are pushed to the brink and that anger is instigated, beware. Like the Bull, they can lash out recklessly and are prone to holding grudges. Information also holds strong in the Taurus. This sign does not breed fast learners but once the lesson is absorbed it is there to stay.

Security in the form of money and material goods is important to these people- almost to the point of it being a problem. There is a tendency to be indulgent but also to be generous to other people. Their home and office are likely to be elegantly decorated and free of any chaotic clutter. Talents of the Rams include cooking (which can lead to weight problems), art, and music- especially singing. In whatever hobbies or interests they pursue, quality is always the key.

Quality rather than quantity also defines their approach to love. Taureans have a tendency to get distracted by the physical appearance and/or material possessions of their potential mates. And the Taurus is not known for their ability to let things go, so it may be awhile before they are able to rid themselves of the pretty partner whose qualities do not extend down into their personality. The Bull is somewhat romantic, sentimental and gentle when given the time to warm up- and, of course, terribly loyal. This is a person that is very equipped to work at a relationship and see it through to the end- even when there are signs that they should throw in the towel. A Bull is rarely the one who does the leaving in a relationship.

The Taurus sign brings with it a tendency to look at life as being in terms of black and white with no gray middle ground. It can be hard for these people to understand ulterior motives or contradictions. There is a childlike sense of innocence that permeates their thick skin. There is the rare jaded Bull out there but this comes from a childhood that somehow subdued or put in jeopardy their true nature. The true Bull only wants to sit in their comfortable field and watch the clouds pass by in the sky.
