In quiet times, I feel we can hear friends call to us from afar. In the everyday hustle and bustle, our chatty thoughts and the noise around us often drown their voices out. And still they call and try to help with our earthly challenges. I don’t believe they ever interfere with our free will, but they do give us data to assist in our decision making process. There are times that, for our own good, they would step in and lend a helping hand.

Not only are there friends who assist us along our path, but I have also found help from some who were close to me when they were physically alive. I don’t think our loved ones move on and forget all about us. I feel the bonds that existed when they were here with us are for- ever present and a simple thought could jump across space and time to create a direct line of communication.

It’s not that the departed sit around in some ethereal office, waiting for us to call on the heavenly, open-request phone line. They certainly have lots of other things to deal with, probably much more so than they had while in the physical body. They will not interfere with our growth and learning, but I have enough reasons to believe that they find ways to lend a helping hand. If we don’t feel close to them or don’t want them around us, they do not bother, nor do they insist on imposing their presence.

Neither do they want us sitting around whining for help. They will help us if we ask, but they won’t do our work for us, much preferring that we do all we can with what we have. They do not want us to be dependent on them, to try to live in their world before we are ready. I have felt on numerous occasions the presence of my wife.
