When a software is not yet sold officially in the maket but its DVD is available, for example a movie which has not been released in the cinema theatre but can be watched on a DVD, in such case the DVD is said to contain a pirated copy of that movie.
Piracy affects the hard work put into by the owner and the people working for him. They receive no reward and also loose money due for their creativity.
Intellectual Property (IP) rights allow people to shield their creativity and make money using their creative ideas through license, agreements and royalties. As the owner you can protect your identity and use your control of your IP. Royalty generally refers to the reward in terms of money paid to the creators for their striking ideas and higher level of intelligence. A unique federation called The Alliance against IP Theft prevents the interest of IP.
You can avoid use of pirated DVDs if bought from a licensed retailer and/or downloading from on line sites with prior permission of the owner. A legally obtained DVD gives you the right of using it for yourself without making any copies for sale. You will be a licensed user and will be prohibited from making copies of it for the use of others.
You can broadcast or upload a film or a TV program if you have sought the permission from the relevant owner. There are different websites, which will help you find out how you can download a film or a TV program.
There are other ways also which suggest and ensure buying of original software. If a user doubts a DVD to be illegal and unauthorized he can visit the website of The Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT). FACT was established in 1983, it is a criminal prosecution authority against copyright and trademark infringements. It works with statutory law enforcement agencies to fight against the growth of pirated DVDs fake films and other entertainment material that have come under increasing threats from online based piracy.
Piracy is an offence and one has to face a penalty for using pirated material such as pirated DVDs. For film piracy, punishment may be in the tune of 10 years imprisonment or unlimited fine and also purging of pirated DVDs or assets illegally obtained. Some times lawsuits are imposed and the outcome is monetary damages on the culprit and an embargo against future infringing.
Illegal downloading leads to face pop ups and superfluous advertisements. Even the computer gets affected by perilous viruses and spyware, which may permeate the system and firewalls that comprise the networking security. The computer storage will be damaged and will require renewal of software settings. Hence, it is strictly recommended to use only licensed software and discourage the piracy of DVDs.
