If you are starting out as an affiliate marketer, one thing I am sure you are interested in is low cost advertising. If you are like me, I am a stay at home mom looking to make some extra income for my family, you have time but not a lot of financial resources. I can put in the hours, but I do not have a lot of extra money to invest.

Article writing is a great way to get extra exposure to your website without any cost involved. It works like this, you write an article that gives helpful information about a subject, or product available. People read your article to learn the information that you have available. At the bottom of each article, you are allowed to write a small amount about yourself as well as a link to your website. If people are interested in what you have written about, they have the opportunity to follow the link to your website, where you can share more information and hopefully get them interested in the product you wish to promote.

You can not use affiliate links in your articles, nor can write sales letters and pass them off as information. Your articles need to be quality information that is given in an easy to understand format. They do not need to be very long. Usually between 400-700 words. If you write your articles with the goal of providing information to your readers, you can be successful. No one wants to read the same information over and over again, so its also important to make your articles unique. Maybe you are interested in birds and have a website devoted to different types of birds. You can write an article about the different types of birds and direct people to your website. This will generate targeted traffic to your website and will have cost you nothing but the time it took you to put together the article.

If your article is not interesting though, no one is going to follow your link. You need to give the people reading the article good information about the subject they are looking for information about. If you write about something that you know and are interested in, people will see that in your writing and know that you can be trusted to give them quality information.

Writing articles is a great way to generate targeted traffic to your website. You should keep your articles targeted to one specific area and make sure that the information you are giving is correct. They should be easy to understand and helpful to the reader. Do not write them as sales letters, or they will not be accepted into most article directories. There are many article submission sites available on the internet for you to choose from.
